Plot Summary:

In the year 2005, a computer virus called 'Pluto Kiss' completely shuts down and restricts the global internet network of the world. In 2007, after extensive rescinding of the network, they create and release an online Network Game (MMORPG) called 'The World'. The anime focuses mainly around Tsukasa who obtains the power that damages the player in the real world. He suddenly awakens to find himself in 'The World', being able to feel, smell, touch, see and hear everything as if he was really there. He attempts to logout but fails to do so. Being unable to remember what has happened before he awoke, he wanders around aimlessly to find answers. While doing so, system moderators, the Scarlet Knights, suspect that he has been working with hackers, because of the tweaked character he was with. Tsukasa finds a magical item, that grants him the power to use this fearful 'Guardian' that will protect him from harm.

Plot Summary:

Sergeant Sousuke Sagara, Sergeant Major Melissa Mao, and Sergeant Kurz Weber are members of a military task force called Mithril. Mithril uses a special new technology called an "ArmSlave". An Armslave is a large robot that has many weapons at its disposal. Sousuke, Melissa, and Kurz are given the task of protecting Kaname Chidori a high school student. Sousuke decides to join Kaname's high school to better protect her. After just two days at her school he has fallen down the stairs and broken a glass window. I think he will need to rethink his strategy.

Review:

Full Metal Panic is a Science Fiction/Drama. I gave this series an 8/10, and would recommend it to any fan of Science Fiction/Drama. This series is different from others like it, as it focuses more on the drama aspect of the story then the Science Fiction aspect (like Gundam or Robotech).

Pros:

This is a long running series that has a steady plot line and won't leave you asking for more. This story has many aspects of a good drama set in a Science Fiction world, and I'll stop there to avoid spoilers.

Cons:

This story has more fan service and guy oriented scenes than Gundam or Robotech. Also this series is not as long as others of its kind. Again this story is more a drama than a Science Fiction series, so if your not a fan of Drama I would stay away from this one.

Plot Summary:

Plot Summary:

In ancient times the land lay covered in forests. Where, from ages long pas, dwelt the spirits of gods. Back then, man and beast lived in harmony, but as time went by, most of the great forests were destroyed. Those that remained were guarded by gigantic beasts... who owed their allegiance to the Great Forest Spirit, for those were the days of gods and of demons. Prince Ashitaka is the prince of a small village, and a good fighter. One day his village is attacked by a strange beast that one of the elders calls a demon. While killing the demon, Prince Ashitaka is wounded. When the elder of the village looks at his wound he tells the Prince he doesn't have long to live, and that he must journey to a far off land to find the cure.

Review:

This anime was done by the great, and as all his other works, this one doesn't disappoint. I gave this anime a 9/10, as its plot is well put together and enacted. This film is extremely visually appeasing, and the animation is simply beautiful. The only reason I didn't give this anime a 10/10 is because the extra features on this DVD were not up to par with my expectations. The sound track is also well paced, and helps add to the overall feeling. I would definitely recommend this film to anyone, as I have not met someone who didn't like it. I left off the pros and cons section for this anime as I feel it doesn't need or deserve them.

Plot Summary:

Everyone has something that they would wish for, something they desire, or something they can't live without. What would you give up to have your dreams come true, what sacrifices would you make? Watanuki Kimihiro, knows exactly what he would wish for, but what would it cost to have his wish come true?

Watanuki Kimihiro has had a difficult time over the past few years, as his parents died in a horrible accident, and he has had to take care of himself. Watanuki has problems other than dealing with the everyday trials of normal life. He is plagued with the rare gift of being able to see evil spirits, not only does that make things more difficult than normal, but the evil spirits are also attracted to Watanuki.

One day walking home from school, a large amount of evil spirits gather around Watanuki, and force him to the ground, the only thing that saves him, is by touching the fence of a large local house. After touching the fence, all the evil spirits magically disappear. Curious as to why the spirits disappeared when he touched the fence, Watanuki takes a quick look at the house, and is suddenly unable to control his legs.

When Watanuki arrives at the front door (unintentionally), he is greeted by 2 strange little girls, one with pink hair, and one with blue hair. These little girls take Watanuki to their master, a woman who calls herself Ichihara Yuuko, and is a local fortune teller, and expert in everything supernatural. After reading Watanuki's future, Yuuko claims that she can grant Watanuki's wish, she can make the evil spirits go away, but he will have to work part time as payment for her granting his wish.

Plot Summary:

The time is 1969, the year of the emperor Showa 44. Japan welcomes a new period of advanced economical growth, and development, however most people are unaware of the new threat to their very way of life, lurking in the shadows. This is the story of the Gate Keepers protecting mankind from the grasp of the evil invaders. The Gate Keepers are a secret government agency that battles the evil invaders. This agency goes by the code name A.E.G.I.S (Alien Exterminating Global Intercept System). Ruriko Ikusawa (who controls the gate of life) is currently the only member of the Gate Keepers team with AEGIS. As the threat grows the Commander of the AEGIS East Branch decides to recruit more Gate Keepers to help battle the invaders. One of the new recruits is Shun Ukiya, who controls the gate of wind. Another new member to the team is Reiko Asagiri, who controls the gate of illusion.

Review:

I had mixed feelings about this series when I first saw a trailer for it, but those feelings quickly changed after watching a few episodes. I would classify this series as a Science Fiction/Romance. More emphasis on the Science Fiction than the Romance (as the romantic twist is mostly a side plot to the overall plot of invasion). I gave this series a 9/10 as the animation is very nicely done, and the pallete is very robust. This series compares visually to Stellvia, Chobits, or Ai Yori Aoshi, and the computer animation blends seamlessly with the hand-drawn animation. I would recommend this series to anyone that likes Science Fiction action series or even to some that like romantic comedies, as the play between Shun and his feminine team mates is priceless.

Pros:

This series is action packed, and the plot changes drastically the further you go on. I couldn't wait to watch the next disc. I would recommend this series to any fan of Science Fiction action series, and even some that like romantic comedies. Another thing that surprised me about this series was the lack of fan service (no in a bad way) this series didn't have any noticeable fan service in it, so I feel it would be a good series to pick up for children, or adults that steer clear of anime with fan service.

Cons:

This series is a bit dry in the middle, so if you need constant action and story development I would steer clear of this one.

Plot Summary:

In a future time, when most human thought has been accelerated by artifical intelligence and external memory can be shared on a universal matrix, Batou, an agent of the elite Section 9 Security Force and a being so artificially modified as to be essentially a cyborg, is assigned, along with his mostly human partner Togusa, to investigate a series of gruesome Murders. Time has passed since Batou's original partner, Major Motoko Kusanagi, cybernetically enhanced to such a degree that only her "ghost" remained human, disappeared into the Net. Since then, Batou has wondered where her ghost might be and if the Major will ever return...

Review:

This is the second film by the acclaimed director Mamoru Oshii, and is by no means anything less than spectacular. I put this in the Science Fiction genre, as it doesn't fit exactly in any other genre (but does have some romantic and horror overtones in it). I gave this film a 10/10 not only because its visually spectacular, audibly appeasing, and the way the story was lead out almost breathtaking, but also because I have long been a fan of the Ghost in the Shell series, and have never been let done (usually they provide more than I expected). I would definitely recommend this to any fan of anime or Science Fiction films, and would be willing to bet you wouldn't be let down.

Pros:

This film is a breathtaking adventure through a world that is beautiful and deadly, this film has something for everyone, and I have never met a person that didn't love it. Again, I would definitely rent or buy this one.

Cons:

This film is for adult viewers, and does contain nudity and graphic violence, I would keep this one away from viewers below the age of at least 15.

Plot Summary:

A normal day in a small tea house in Edo, normal in every way, including people of power taking advantage of those that don't have it. Fuu is the waitress of this small tea house, an absent minded young woman, and she is feeling a little uneasy about the son of the regions gang stirring trouble, and causing problems with her other customers. A young man walks into the small tea house, and tells Fuu that it would cost her 50 dumplings, for him to take care of the gang, Fuu tells him she could do 20, he refuses. Fuu is called over by the gang to deliver their tea, and trips, causing the tea to spill all over the son of the region, which isn't happy about being covered in hot tea. The son of the region orders his gang members to hold done Fuu, and remove one of her fingers. Just before she is about to loose her nose, she cries out "100 DUMPLINGS", and the man stands up and starts fighting with the members of the gang. The son of the region tells Mugen, the man who is fighting on Fuu's behalf, that his father will make him pay for what he has done, and that his father has 3 body guards that are the best fighters in all of Edo. Mugen tells them to bring back these 3 bad-asses, so he can kill them. Shortly after the son of the regions man leave to get the 3 bad-asses, a strange man walks into the tea house, dressed in samurai clothing, Mugen thinks he is one of these so called bad-asses, and starts a fight with him. One of the gang members starts a fire, and the tea house burns down, and the two strange men are captured by the leader of the region. The two strangers are sentenced to death, and have to find a way to escape before their execution.

Review:

This series is very different from any other series I have seen before. The animation is beautiful, and the choices for the audio tracks and sound effects defiantly help the mood. The colors are brilliant and the audio doesn't have any artifacts in it. This series shows just how far animation has come in the last 10 years, and I can't wait to see what else comes out after this show. This series has violence, bad language, and blood in it, so I would recommend only allowing children 16 years or older to view it.

Plot Summary:

This was a dismal town. There were spaces among the ruined and chaotic structures of the town. When a light turned on in the alley, there was a play only children could do, and the world only children could enter, beyond the alley. Children knew they could do a forbidden play with strange figured creatures called "Oni". The play was called "A play of Okotoyo-sama", namely, "Kakurenbo"(hide-and-seek). Whenever children played "Kakurenbo", they disappeared one after another into the blinds of the buildings. In those days, a boy, Hikora, was looking for his little sister who had disappeared while she had been playing Kakurenbo. Then, Yaimao, Noshiga, Tachiji, Suku, uncanny twins of Inmu and Yanku, and a girl helped him. When they began to play "Kakurenbo", four strange figured "Oni" chased them, they were "Abura Tori"(Oil Taker), "Ko Tori"(Child Taker), "Chi Tori"(Blood Taker), and "Kimo Tori"(Liver Taker) respectively. The children wanted to know about the play, about the town, and about the world. The truth hidden in this play gradually became clear.
